TIPS for
a successful show v Calm begins at home. v Get prepared early. v Put your child’s name on everything. v Use labeled Ziplocs to hold accessories (hairpiece, gloves) one for each dance. v Do hair and makeup at home. v Hair clips and rubber bands should match hair color. v No nail polish on stage. v Have a healthy meal before coming. v Arrive on time! v NO food or drink. v Stay for entire show. v Only authorized parent volunteers in the dressing room and backstage area. v
Sorry Dads, no men in the
dressing rooms v Wear tan tights first, put pink tights over for quick & easy changes. v Extras to bring; patience, tights, towelettes, safety pins, band aids, bobby pins, hair spray. v Leave running the show to the pros! v Ask questions if unsure of what to do. v Enjoy the experience!

PROFESSIONAL
PHOTOGRAPHS We
are excited to have professional photographers producing our
professional group and individual pictures.
Their experienced staff will competently pose each dancer in
costume for some great memories. We
rely on their props and expertise to get the best angles, lighting, and
quality photos. As a
professional courtesy, we ask that you do not bring any personal
photography equipment to the photo shoot.
Orders for student’s
portrait packages will be taken
on Picture Day. SHOWCASE
DVD Please
do bring your cameras and take pictures or video tape your dancer
at dress rehearsal. BUT
… remember that the use of cameras of any kind is ABSOLUTELY
prohibited during the showcase. The
show will be professionally recorded.
So, relax and enjoy the performance without the distraction of
others trying to get a shot during the show.
Leave your cameras at home on showcase day and when you
distribute tickets to your family and friends, please remind them to do
likewise. COMMEMORATIVE
T-SHIRT Our
successful launch of showcase t-shirts continues.
If you order before the May
15th the cost is only $15
for pickup at the show. You
can still order after that, but the price goes up to $18 as we will ship them directly to you.
FLOWER
ORDERS It’s
a tradition to give dancers flowers after a stunning performance and
they are a wonderful way to show your appreciation for a job well done.
We can make it a little easier with single stem flowers for sale
on Showcase day. But for
your favorite dancer you may want to purchase our lovely full
size bouquet for $12
which will have premium flowers, carnations, and baby’s breath, all
wrapped for easy handling. Or
we have our petite bouquet which will have fewer stems, but of the same
quality and available for $7.
Why sit with wet flowers on your lap?
We will keep your bouquet fresh and ready for you to pick up at
intermission or the end of the show.
This offer, for these pretty bouquets, is only available as preorders
until May 15.

support our efforts. The
deadline for submission is May 15. RECITAL/DRESS
REHEARSAL LOCATION TBA Due
to the process to reserve Montgomery County Schools, we cannot put our
reservation into the system until January 15.
We will be informed by the middle of March for confirmation. DRESS
REHEARSALS Will
be held per the show your daughter will be dancing in. There
will be one day of dress rehearsals on Saturday prior to the
performances that will encompass all shows.
A listing will be provided to you prior that lists and identifies
which class will be performing in which showcase.
You will check your show and corresponding dress rehearsal time.
Dancers should arrive on time in their first costume with hair
and make-up done. Your
teacher will provide instructions on hair style, make-up, as well as
tights, shoes, and costume alterations.
If there is a conflict in hairstyles for two separate classes,
please ask the teachers for guidance. Make
sure that you have your dancer’s name written on all costumes,
accessories, and inside all shoes. It
is a good idea to keep the costumes and accessories in bags that are
clearly labeled with your child’s name.
Dress
rehearsals are very important for everyone and designed to make our
shows the best they can be. For
example, teachers use them to make sure they’ve instructed students
properly, that costumes and props are functioning correctly, that marks
are noted on stage, and that all their cues have been followed.
The technicians use rehearsals to adjust lights to coordinate
with the costumes and illuminate the stage, make sure the music is
running properly, and confirm our stage directions.
Lastly, rehearsals are to help the performers become familiar
with the stage, recognize their marks, and orient themselves for
entrances and exits and perhaps run their number one last time in full
costume before the show. During
dress rehearsal you may videotape
and take non-flash photos.
However, you should know that during rehearsals we do not always
run the number in full, the teacher will sometimes walk amongst the
dancers, and stage lighting may be turning on and off.
We suggest that you purchase a professionally produced DVD of the
show to ensure the best possible results.
We do not permit videotaping
or taking photos of any kind during
the showcase.
This rule will be strictly enforced!
When
you enter the auditorium for rehearsal, please sit in the designated
class row that your child’s class will be assigned.
If your child is in multiple classes, make sure that all of their
dances have been performed before you leave.
Before leaving the school auditorium take inventory of all the
dancer’s items. SHOWCASES Our
first request for a school is the 2nd weekend of June.
Please hold this weekend open for the Dance Showcase. Dancers
should arrive 45 minutes prior to
show time,
dressed in their first costume. You
will take your child to the assigned dressing room.
Notices will be posted throughout the school.
There will also be volunteer parents (please consider helping)
and assistants that will take care of your child.
You may send games, books, or similar non-messy entertainment for
the time that they will be waiting.
NO food or drink! All
dancers are required to stay until the end of the show for the grand
finale and presentations. No
performers are allowed to sit in the auditorium during the show.
Following the finale, dancers will be escorted back to their
dressing room for pick them up. VOLUNTEERS We
need a great deal of help to produce a successful show and we rely on
our wonderful volunteers. Your
assistance allows us to keep our cost down, offer the dancers mementos
at reasonable prices, and makes the show experience very pleasant for
our students and audience members. We
love to have dads help too (except in the dressing rooms).
Some areas for each show where we need you:
Volunteers
will be allowed to view their child during the class’s performance or
instead of working during your student’s show, consider helping at
another. |
