During her 20-year career as a dancer and choreographer Shauntrese has traveled all over the United States performing and choreographing in shows for dance companies, organizations, dance competitions, and events. Many of her former students have gone on to perform with Beyonce, Usher, and Rihanna as well as on Broadway, Professional Dance Companies, Cruise Ships, and become dance instructors themselves. She studied at Maryland Youth Ballet and Washington School of Ballet. Miss Shauntrese has also judged local and national competitions for dance and cheer. She has received numerous awards for her choreography from Overall High Scores, Top Teacher and Outstanding Studio. She has been a dancer and instructor for several company teams. Throughout her travels she tries to remain humble and give her all in everything that she does. Her goal is to teach and uplift students in all areas of dance. She wants her students to love and appreciate the art form of dance as much as she does.
Miss Laurie Arenas has been teaching dance for 20 years. Laurie grew up in Frederick County Maryland where she studied many styles of dance, gymnastics, and music. She was a competitive dancer for 8 years and began teaching as an assistant at the age of 18. While in college, Laurie studied ballet at a local studio where she performed with the Rockingham Ballet Theatre. She has done choreography for high school show choirs, High School musicals Grease and the Sound of Music, and worship dance for high schools and churches in Virginia and Maryland. Laurie has taught students ages 2 to adult. Laurie’s teaching experience includes ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, hip hop, acro, lyrical and musical theatre. She has also directed competition teams and had many overall high score award winners in Tap, Lyrical, and Hip Hop. Laurie is very passionate about teaching dance and is excited to teach at CM this year.
Miss Tatiana has been dancing since she was 5 years old. She has grown up in the dance world. As a teen, she joined the competition team at Wheaton Studio of Dance and competed for 5 years. She has training in ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, and lyrical. Tatiana has been teaching dance for the past 5 years and has been the assistant teacher for the competition team for 3 years. She enjoys teaching all levels and ages but particularly enjoys teaching our younger dancers. She currently studies Family Science and Special Education at University of Maryland. Her future goal is to receive her Master’s degree in School Counseling. Tatiana is excited to join the CM dance family and share her experiences with all the young dancers.
Miss Rachel Frymark
Miss Rachel began dancing at the age of 5 and joined Concepts in Motivation at the age of 7 taking ballet and tap. She continued to dance with Mt. Airy Studio of Dance until graduating high school in 2006. She received training in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, and lyrical and attended many Start Power dance competitions. At the age of 13, she began assisting teachers at Mt. Airy Studio of Dance. Miss Rachel continued to dance in college with the Mount St. Mary’s University dance team, performing at half-time during all of the home basketball games. Miss Rachel is current a Special Education teacher with MCPS and is pursuing her Master’s degree through Johns Hopkins University.
Miss Tamara Henry
Tamara Henry is a dancer, musician and artist who started her dance career at the age of four in Tuckahoe, New York. After moving to Wheaton/Silver Spring, Maryland, she continued her studies at Peter’s Studio of Dance in Glenmont, Maryland. In college, Miss Henry studied dance at the University of Maryland, danced with the University of Maryland Dance Team, and danced with the Morgan State University Modern Dance Ensemble. While earning her undergraduate and master’s degrees, she was the dance coordinator/choreographer for her university's (Morgan State and Bowie State respectively) marching band dance lines.
Miss Henry loves performing, choreographing, and has taught various styles of dance throughout the Washington DC Metropolitan area to include ballet, tap, jazz, salsa and poms. At Knock on Wood Tap Studio, she was an 8-year member of its Resident Company Step Aside, had the chance to study with several renowned tap dancers and learned salsa rueda/casino. In 2009, she founded and became the director of Artistic Rhythms Alliance/ARA Tap. In 2010 she began producing A Holiday SpecTAPular, an annual tap show that brings over 100 tap dancers from the Metropolitan area together for a festive holiday concert.
Henry has had the opportunity to perform at several venues including the Kennedy Center, Wolf Trap, Black Rock Center for the Arts, Publick Playhouse, Dance Place, Montgomery College, Joe's Movement Emporium, Jack Guidone Theater, tap festivals in Austin, Chicago and New York, and at the Lincoln Center with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Marvin Hamlisch. She holds an Advanced Professional Certification in School Administration and Supervision and has happily worked in the public school system for over 18 years, 17 years as a high school business education/computer instructor & IT Technician and currently as an elementary school dance teacher.
Miss Jessica Hibbert
Jessica began to dance at the age of 2 and at age 11 started dancing with Concepts in Motivation. Not only was she a student for Concepts, she began her teaching career there. She first attended Oklahoma City University and performed in their Dance Spirit Team in the fall of 2002-2003. She then studied at Shenandoah University where she graduated in May 2007 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. While at school, Jessica discovered her love of choreography and created many dances for her peers to perform in a variety of showcases. A member of Sigma Rho Delta, a National Dance Fraternity that specializes in service, Jessica was elected Historian for the 2005-2006 term. Jessica and twelve other dancers from SU and Kansas State traveled to Banyoles and Mataro, Spain on a performance/study tour in July 2006. Along with teaching since graduating Jessica has also performed in the DC metro area with local dance companies. She is happy to teaching at Concepts in Motivation and looks forward to each dance year and years to come teaching with her love of dance with her students.
Miss Erica Hudak
Erica Molina Hudak was born and raised in the DC Metropolitan area. She studied dance at Maryland Youth Ballet and Washington School of Ballet as a young dancer. She went on to attend University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, NC, where she was a contemporary major. While there she performed with Alonzo King's Lines Ballet, Merce Cunningham Dance Company and with The Límon Dance Company. She pursued a professional career as a dancer after college in DC, where she joined DancEthos, as an original company member. Erica discovered her passion for teaching and choreographing at a young age. She has taught and choreographed at The Loudoun School of Ballet, and currently teaches and choreographs at Berrend Dance Centre, Maryland Youth Ballet, Imagination Stage and Next Level Studio. Erica is pleased to be teaching at Concepts of Motivation in Olney and Damascus and hopes to bring her knowledge and passion for dance to all of her students.
Miss Megan May McNellage
Miss Megan joined us in 2009 with 12 years of dance experience. She has been teaching dance for the past 9 years. Miss Megan was a student as well as an assistant teacher at the Mt. Airy Studio of Dance. Miss Megan has an A.A.T. in Elementary Education and an A.A. degree in American Sign Language from Montgomery College. Miss Megan is the President of The Damascus Theatre Company, where she has been performing, choreographing, assistant directing over the past 20 years.
Miss Brittany Miller
Miss Brittany was the Director for CM Premier Dance Camp. She started her dancing career with CM Dance and has been dancing for more than two decades studying ballet, tap, jazz, and modern. She danced at the Kennedy Center's Opera House, with the American Ballet Theatre in their production of NUTCRACKER and LA CORSAIRE. She also performed with the Universal Ballet of Korea in their production of LA BAYADERE. She spent four summers studying at the Miami City Ballet under the direction of Edward Villela. In addition, Miss Brittany also trained for many years with the Advanced Release Time II class at the Maryland Youth Ballet. Miss Brittany graduated from Winthrop University in South Carolina, with a degree in Dance Education. Throughout college, she had the opportunity to choreograph her own production as well as take part in many teacher choreographed pieces. From 2011-2014 Miss Brittany was the owner/director and full time dance teacher of Concepts in Motivation, Inc. She now resides in Okinawa, Japan with her husband, where she continues to teach dance.
Miss Tina Stanton
Miss Tina started teaching dance for Concepts in Motivation in 1992 until 2007. Then she moved to North Carolina in 2007, returning to Maryland in 2011. Miss Tina is happy to be joining the Concepts family again. Miss Tina started dancing at age 6. She received dance training at the Olney studio of dance for many years, attending many dance competitions, workshops and dance conventions in addition. Also she received dance training from Glen Echo Dance Theater, Oklahoma City University, and Dance Masters of America Teacher Training School.
Miss Tina has been a member of National Dance Education Organization as well as American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. Miss Tina is also a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist.
Miss Rhonda Rose
Miss Rhonda, a native Washingtonian, started her dance and baton training at the age of 9. She formally trained in jazz, tap, Hawaiian, and baton twirling. Rhonda taught dance and baton for many years. Rhonda was a competitive baton/dance twirler for over ten years (within the National Baton Twirling Association NBTA) and held state and regional championship titles. Rhonda was also a former certified NBTA judge. She has held numerous titles within the Maryland Scholarship Pageant for the Miss America pageant. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the University of Maryland. Rhonda continues to teach at Concepts in Motivation’s Mt. Airy Studio of Dance and is happy to be teaching young children. Rhonda is the General Manager of Concepts in Motivation, Inc.
Miss Sydney Seese
Miss Sydney joins us from the University of Connecticut’s Dance Team. During her 3 years on this team, she was the team Captain from 2014-2015. As a member of this dance team, she traveled and danced with both the football team and basketball teams. She competed in Daytona, Florida for the NDA Collegiate Nationals. Sydney is well versed in hip hop, jazz, pom, tap, ballet, lyrical, contemporary, modern and pointe. Sydney received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice. Sydney is excited to teach at CM Dance again this year.
Miss Jessica has a long history with Concepts in Motivation. She joined at the Mt. Airy Studio of Dance as a dancer in 2001, performing in her first recital in 2002. She has not stopped dancing since. At the Mt. Airy Studio, she has taken classes in Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Modern. Along with being a student, she became an assistant in 2011, assisting at both the Mt. Airy and Damascus studios. This is her first year as a teacher with CM Dance, and she could not be more excited to share her love of dance with her students.
Miss Angelique Waldron
Angelique, a native Washingtonian has studied many styles of dance since the age of 3. She is formally trained in tap, jazz, ballet, and modern. Growing up, she competed at regional and national dance competitions as well as participated in many dance workshops locally and abroad. Angelique was captain of her high school pom pom squad. She was awarded NCA Superstar for two consecutive years and awarded first place Captain at the County Championships.
Angelique moved on to attend Shenandoah University where she majored in Dance. She was a member of the Shenandoah Dance Ensemble, as well as a member of the Shenandoah Sensations Nationally Competitive Collegiate Dance Team. Angelique has been teaching dance in the Metropolitan area since 1996. Formally the Children’s Director & Artistic Director of Jr. & Teen Dance Company in Montgomery County. She is a former judge of the Washington Wizards Professional Dance Team. She has also served as head judge for the past three years with American Cheer and Dance Academy. She earned her Early Childhood Education Certification in 1995. She resides in Olney with her husband and son. Miss Angelique is the Director of Concepts In Motivation, Inc.
Mr. Darren Wilson
Darren's love for sound and rhythm began at a young age. He studied dance at Knock on
Wood Tap Studio in Silver Spring, Maryland as a member and dance captain of the resident
Tappers With Attitude Youth Tap Ensemble. The countless rehearsals, master classes, and
performances in venues such as the Kennedy Center and Wolf Trap were made all the more
enjoyable because he could share it with his mother; who was a member of the co-resident
Step Aside. He went on to attend Michigan State University to pursue a degree in broadcast
journalism. While there, he served as a rhythm and Broadway tap instructor for the award
winning Synergy Dance Academy competition team in Okemos, Michigan. Darren's passion
for teaching extends far beyond the studio. He is entering his 9th year teaching in the
Montgomery County Public Schools System. Darren is excited to join this amazing faculty
and can't wait to hit the floor. In the words of one of his favorite dancers Sammy Davis Jr: "If I should die, let me do it with my tap shoes on."
Miss Jordan Wright
Miss Jordan was born in North Carolina, but has lived in Maryland since age 9. She has been dancing for about 10 years and has trained in jazz, hip hop, tap, modern and ballet. She took lessons at B. Funk dance studio, was a member of her high school dance company and was captain of the poms team. Throughout her time as a company member she received multiple awards and was the recipient of the Ricki Huff dance scholarship. After high school she has continued studying dance at Howard Community college. During her dance career she has had the opportunity to dance in Florida at Disney World, in New York City with the Rockettes and at Goucher College with Doug Hamby. Jordan is passionate about dance and always pushes herself to be better. Her goal in joining us here at CM Dance is not only to teach, but to share with others that dance is so much more than movement, it is discipline, motivation, expression and passion.
Miss Jillian Yaniga
Miss Jillian is a senior at Damascus high school and has been dancing since pre school. She started at CM when she was seven years old. This year will be her second year with the CM Dance Company Damascus team. She has been an assistant for four years and is ready to start teaching her own classes. Miss Jillian is very excited to be teaching at CM dance this year.
Miss Christina Zarrelli
Miss Christina has been dancing since 1998 at Dawn Crafton and Olney Studio of Dance. She was on the Company Dance Team at Olney Studio of Dance from 2007-2009, attending competitions promoted by StarQuest and Showstopper. She taught dance classes at Sherwood High School from 2010- 2013. She began teaching at Concepts In Motivation in 2011. Her styles of dance include Ballet, Jazz, Hip hop, Tap, and Lyrical. Miss Christina has an Associates of Arts Degree and is currently working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology at the University of Maryland.
